Completed in 2019 for DISD, this building serves as an athletic field house and storm shelter for a high school. Designed to withstand 250mph winds, the use of glass was minimized to provide natural light or views strictly as needed. The design focused on using light and shadow as a way to add articulation to the mostly solid mass. With recessed windows, a canted entry, and a striated brick pattern, the building texture appears to constantly change throughout the day.
